Before I moved out here, I wanted to set a few things up for myself so that I wouldnt just sit in my room all the time. Not that I really thought that I would do that, but it’s good to be precautious. One of the things I set up was a cinema trip on Wednesday evening to see a film I really like that has been rereleased: Spider-man Homecoming!

The Movie

As part of Colombia Pictures 100 year anniversary (I’m not sponsored or anything there’s just like a million adverts about it when I watched the film) they’re rereleasing all of the spider-man movies in the cinema. From Tobey Maguire’s Spider-man (2002) all the way up to Tom Holland’s Spider-man No Way Home (2021), I only found out about it a couple weeks ago when I derailed a date I was on to force them to watch The Amazing Spider-man 2. I say derailed, it made it way better!

Anyway back to my day in the life. After spending the day becoming more familiar with the city and getting some dinner at a spot nearby, I headed to the cinema. This cinema is excellently placed, about a 5 minute walk from the campus sports centre (which as I tested, has an amazing pool I will definitely be returning to) so it was easy enough to find. I got seated, reclined my seat all the way back (thanks Odeon), got my chocolate hazelnuts ready (thanks Holland & Barrett), and prepared to watch a 20 year old man pretend to be a 15 year old child for 2 hours (thanks Hollywood).

The film was just as ‘Amazing’ as I remembered it, and even better than usual having been watched on the big screen. But now it was time to head home.

The Homeheading

It was late, not ‘oh no I’m gonna die’ late but too late for me to feel super comfortable walking home. Luckily, I had thought of a solution to this problem earlier in the day, I was going to run home!

I had the route planned out, I had energy from my healthy snacks, and I had all my running gear on. I even got some reflective tape during my travels so that I would have a much lesser chance of being run over. I was ready, and as soon as the credits started to roll, I was out of the cinema and on the trail.

It was a good run, not too many hills, and the chill evening air made it an almost relaxing experience. No records were being broken, but I wasn’t really trying to. A big part of my practicing running is I’d love to be able to comfortably do it as part of a commute, and this was a big step in me feeling more comfortable doing it. I have a good strap that holds my backpack secure so whatever items I might be carrying from the day will be safe and sound in there. Which is good because I totally forgot that I left my tablet in my backpack, luckily once I arrived home there wasn’t a scratch on it.

All in all it was a great evening, a good movie, and a good run afterwards. Once I got back to my room though, I almost passed out into my bed! Activities are fun, but I don’t think anything quite beats sleeping.

Can’t hang around though, gotta go save New York!

P.S. I managed to snap this picture of the the night sky whilst running, it’s a little blurry, but the enhanced night mode setting on my phone really makes stargazing worthwhile! See if you can spot a familiar W 😉
