So, hi! It has been a very long time since I have written a post, as you may have guessed things have been a little all over the place. After I last wrote I got bogged down by so many assignents, and then revision for exams, and then exams, and then I just felt like I needed a week off. But now I’m here, and the posts will start up again detailing all of the fascinating things I’ve been getting up to. So let’s get started shall we!
Today’s Events:
I think splitting up my posts by different topics was starting to get a little confusing, I’d love to just make a post about everything that’s going on so that you get a bit of variety with every read. The first part of course needs to be about what I got up to today, it was a fairly productive day so let me walk you through it.
Today was the first day back after the winter break, it has been a really long time since I sat through a lecture so I was excited to get back into it. The first subject: Spacecraft Instrumentation! This topic aims to cover the basics of scientific equipment in space, why we go up there and what we can aim to find out from our studies. We spent the lecture going over the basics of the space environment, from electromagnetic radiation to micrometeoroids, it’s important that all of the factors are considered when designing any spacecraft.

That was my only lecture for the day, the higher ups have blessed us with an easy start to the term, but looking at my calendar it’s only going to get more full on. In a weird way, I can’t wait!
Once the lecture was over, I grabbed a quick lunch and then headed to the gym. Over the past couple weeks I’ve mostly been doing my work in my room so I’ve been going to the gym near to my flat, but the campus has an onsite gym I’ve been dying to use for a while now. I packed all of my gym gear into my bag before I left this morning so I am ready to go!
Apparently I give off the vibes of someone who really knows what they’re doing at the gym. I mostly do stretches and a warm up first, make sure all of my limbs are working properly. Then I’ll do some cardio so today I did running, not too much distance just enough to get a little out of breath. After that it depends what I’m in the mood for, sometimes I go to the punching bag and get all the day’s stress out, other times like today I’ll go in the pool and feel all my worries float away. A good dip in the hot tub afterwards and I am ready for whatever comes next!

I headed home and, once I got in, got to work on my prenotes for the weeks lectures. If I get it done now it means I can properly pay attention to what’s going on in the lectures, gosh I have missed this part of my life.
So, that’s where I am now, I’ve been making notes for the past few hours and I think I’ll go make dinner in a minute, pretty successful day!
Reading Corner
So lately I’ve been reading this book called ‘Orbital’ by Samantha Harvey. It’s a fascinating read about a group of astronauts aboard the ISS and their thoughts and feelings as the spacecraft orbits around the planet. The book is brilliantly split up into the rises and falls of the station around the planet and shows the gradual change in the crew over time as the planet passes below.

I started this a while back and apparently did it once, but I enjoy it so we’re doing it again. Mostly because it will force me to read more often.
I’ve yet to complete the book, right now I’m about halfway through but I am very much enjoying it so far. I’ll be sure to update this blog once I get to the end.

I think I’ll go on some adventure this weekend, I haven’t quite decided yet but I’m sure there’s lot’s of places I can go. As of now, I think that’s all to update on. Life is ever changing though so I’m sure there’ll be plenty to say soon.
For now though,
Auf Wiedersehen!
Cassie ❤
